Audit Response <br /> <br />Federal and Interstate Issues <br /> <br />New PRESP Governance Committee Members Appointed: On November 4, Governor Owens <br />announced the appointment of Agriculture Commissioner Don Ament, DNR Executive Director Greg <br />Walcher, and northeastern Colorado native Howard Propst to the Governance Committee of the Platte <br />River Endangered Species Partnership (PRESP), The Governance Committee was established by the <br />Cooperative Agreement among the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), Bureau ofRecIamation and the <br />states of Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska to address endangered species and water supply management. <br />This team will represent Colorado as the 3-year Cooperative Agreement winds up its work next year with <br />the production of a proposed program agreement and an EIS. <br /> <br />Mr. Propst was born and raised on a fann and ranch along the South Platte River near Merino, <br />Colorado. He served in the Colorado legislature and was chief of staff to former Governor John Love, <br />Propst also served as legislative director and chief of staff to former D.S, Senator Bill Armstrong from <br />1981 to 1990, Propst currently resides in Washington, D.C. and he remains a part owner of the family <br />fann and ranch, <br /> <br />Tom Fry to be Nominated BLM Director: On Oct. 26 Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt <br />announced President Clinton's intention to nominate Thomas A. Fry III to serve as Director of the Bureau <br />of Land Management (BLM). Mr. Fry has been Acting Director ofBLM since November 1998. He was <br />appointed Deputy Director in January 1997, He joined the Interior Department July 1993, as Director of <br />the Minerals Management Service.
