forecast for April-July inflow is 1.1 MAF, or 140 percent of average,
which is compared to 1 MAF on March 1, 1978, and only 280,000 acre-feet
on March I, 1977. The Blue Mesa Reservoir is about 46 percent of
capacity.

Morrow Point is being operated at near capacity; and crystal, there is
a constant flow through Crystal.

Most of the Bureau reservoirs in Western' Colorad9 are' now nea~ ~heir
long-time averages. An exception is Blue Mesa, which is being evacu-
ated in order to minimize spills due to forecasted heavy runoff in t~e
Gunnison Basin.

I

That is a very brief rundown on the water supply outlook, You can see
that it is quite a bit above normal for this particular year.

Now, turning to a review of some of our proj~cts, I will start with our
construc~ion projects first; and the first one is Dallas Creek, whic~
is located down near Ridgway, Colorado., It is under construction. The
construction of the field station is complete. The c9ntract for, the
U. s. Highway 550 relocation is under way. That contract is about 28
percent complete. Most of the work has been completed on the deer
fencing around the highway relocation, and also s~e str~ctures have"
been completed. There wasn't a lot of work done this winter. I under-
stand the contractor is back on the job now, and they are underway.

The schedule for stage 1 of the Ridgway Reservoir :-- now, Ridgway will
be constructed in two stages. The first stage is the foundation stage,
and the second 'stage is the rest of the dam. The schedule now for ,
stage 1 of ,the reservoir, the specifications are due out in June o~ ~his
year,' with the 'contract award forecasted for September of this year.

, .
We have completed approximately 80 percent of the purchase of the
private-land right-Of-way needed to complete the project.

On Dolores, also under construction, the 'construction of part 1 of the,
access road, the McPhee access road is comple~ed. A contract. was ,
'awarded in March, this month, .to B. Marx, Incorporated, for construction
of the field station. The prime contract for. McPhee, whiCh will be :
built in one stage, the schedule now is: issue, September '79; award,
January 1980. AlsO under ~ay are :design studies for the nolores :
Tunnel and the Great Cut Pumping Plant.

" ,
On the Grand Valley Unit of the Colorado River Salinity Control P~oject,
the status of that is that we have completed the definite plan report; I
the draft definite plan report is now under review. A negative deter-
mination has been made on the environmental impact statement. The
determination was made July 4, 1978. We expect the construction start
for .the field station, award in. May, and for the main canal, ,in July
of this year.

Now, that ,is predicated on the signing of an operation and maintenqnce
contract between the U. S. government and the'Grand Valley Water Users.
That is under review and has not been negotiated.

-2-
