<br />Itj ~ <br /> <br />..J <br /> <br />FOUNTAIN CREEK WATERSHED FORUM <br /> <br />To combat the many problems associated with streambank erosion, flooding, and water <br />quality issues occurring throughout Fountain Creek Watershed, the Fountain Creek Watershed <br />Project was formed in 1995. In 1998, the members of the Watershed Project in conjunction <br />with Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments created the Fountain Creek Watershed Forum <br />to build upon the efforts of the Fountain Creek Watershed Project. The Forum is an interim, <br />regional structure to increase public awareness arid education of the Watershed problems, and <br />to build for 10rlg-term solutions. The Forum is a tri-Ievel structure that consists of the Pikes <br />Peak Area Council of Governments (PP ACG) and Pueblo Area Council of Governments <br />(PACOG) Boards of Directors, a Policy Development Committee made up of elected officials <br />and a Technical Advisory Committee made up of representatives of the effected parties. Both <br />PP ACG and P ACOG are regional planning agencies governed by the elected officials of their <br />member entities. Through its membership the Forum incorporates the concerns of EI Paso, <br />Teller and Pueblo Counties and the cities within them. <br /> <br />The Technical Advisory Committee is made up of a technical representative from the Central <br />Colorado Soil Conservation District, Turkey Creek Soil Conservation District, Natural Resource <br />Conservation Service, USAF Academy, Fort CarSon, Cities of Woodland Park, Marlitou Springs, <br />Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Fountain, Counties of EI Paso, Teller and Pueblo. The pllrpose of the <br />Technical Advisory Committee is to serve as part of the interim Fountain Creek Watershed <br />Forum and to make technical recommendations to the Fountain Creek Watershed Policy <br />Development Committee on current technical issues, goals, plans, and programs affecting the <br />Fountain Creek Watershed. The Policy Development Committee is made up of elected officials <br />representing El Paso County, City of Colorado Springs, City of Manitou Springs, City of Pueblo, <br />and County of Pueblo. The Policy Development Committee recommends programs and plans <br />toward solution identification and implementatiOll in the Fountain Creek Watershed. <br />
