This increased the amount
of casing needed and drilling expense to $24,000,00, This plus the cost
of electrical work (how do they sleep at night) is the main reasons for
the overuns, The road crossing costs were unexpected but had additonal
expense to keep CDOT"s concerns taken care of. The increased cost
of metal and the lack of figuring all the tie in's on pumps was another
cost overun, Then in my origional estimate I had planned to use a 21" check
valve on the overflow tube in the irrigation pond, We had concerns that this
check valve would not work, So we had to add a 18" valve and a 12" valve to
compensate for this, I also overlooked a valve going into the irrigation pond
so we had to add another 18" valve, There are both increase's and decrease's
in the origional proposal. Most of the decrease's arose in plumbing when we
used more glue fittings rather than gasket fittings, The other cost was the
construction of a check at the outlet end of the pipeline, I had just planned on
dumping the water into the existing lateral ditch off the Pawnee ditch this would
not have worked because of the erosion it would have caused,
