.::::.::::.qu

JUDGE CONOUR:

MR. SPARKS:

MR. SMITH:

to you, as usual there have been amendments to
the amendments."

"Is that the one dated January 9th, Larry?"

"It's dated January 9th and pertains only
to the Colorado River Water Conservation Dis-
trict and the Southwestern Water Conservation
District. That bill was drafted at the request
of those two districts. What it does - Hins-
dale County is split between the San Juan Basin
and the Colorado River Basin, or the Gunnison
River Basin. The people in the Gunnison River
Basin of Hinsdale County felt that their de-
velopment, and properly so, the only develop-
ment they can ever receive, is from the Gunni-
son River. So this request initiated from them,
that that part of Hinsdale County which lies
north and west of the Continental Divide and
being within the Gunnison River Basin be ad-
mitted as a member of the Colorado River Water
Conservation District_ They were included as
another county in the Colorado River District
and taken out of the Southwestern.

I

The remaining part of Hinsdale County which
is within the San Juan Basin will remain as a
member of the Southwestern District. And the
Southwestern District requested that Mineral
County, that portion of it which lies within
the San Juan Basin, be made a member of the
Southwestern District. That was accomplished
in the legislation.

There was a revision also in connection
with the payment to the board members which
heretofore has been $5.00 per day. That has
been increased to $25.00 per day. Those board
members devote their time to the operation of
the district. As I say, that was done at the
request of the two districts and as I under-
stand it, they have seen these last revised
amendments and they are satisfactory to them."

I

"Larry, you passed up Saguache County."
