This determination is
requested to facilitate the State Engineer's approval of a Substitute Water Supply Plan.
The plan will allow Climax to construct and operate a small commercial well near the
Williams Fork to be used in conjunction with the "Henderson 2000 Project",

BackQround Information. The purpose of the Henderson 2000 Project is to .
extend the operational life of the Henderson Mine and to modernize the ore conveyance
system. Ore is presently hauled by trains for a distance of 15 miles from the Henderson
Mine located near Berthoud Pass, to the Mill located in the Williams Fork valley, The
train system is being replaced by a belt conveyor system. The total cost of the project
is approximately $1 64 million and the new system is scheduled for completion during
fall 1999, This project is obviously important to the economy of Grand County and
surrounding areas,

The PC2 Drive House Building is being constructed at the location shown on the
enclosed General Area Map, The Drive House is being equipped with an 11,OOO-hp
motor to operate the belt conveyor.
