<br />109 <br /> <br />MORNJllG SESSION <br />Tuesday, September 28, 1948 . <br /> <br />The Board was called to order at 10:00 0' clock, by Vice Chairman <br />George J. Bailey. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Director Stone reviewed the investigational program, fiscal year <br />1948-1949, of the Bureau of Reclamation, for utilization' of Colorado River <br />water in Colorado. . <br /> <br />. Mr. Batson, R~gional Director, Region 7, also discussed the in- <br />vestigational program. He said that present investigations involved the <br />Upper Arkansas River Basin, South Platte diversion, Upper North Platte, <br />Blue River, South Platte and Gunni80n-~ri<:ansas Project. He said an <br />interim draft of the Gunnison-Arkansas report had been made available to <br />the Colorado Water Conserva,tion Board and a similar draft for the Blue- <br />South Platte would be ready s.oon. <br /> <br />Mr. Larson offered additional discussion on the availability of <br />investigational money, particularly for his Region 4, which involves the <br />Western Slope area of Colorado. <br />-< <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />It was suggested that a committee, representing interested state <br />areas and organizations, be formed to study the proposed Gunnison-Arkansas <br />Project report, for the purpose of making recommendations. <br /> <br />It. was moved by Mr. Beaty, and duly seconded, that the' <br />Board autl10rize the creation of a Policy and Review Committee <br />for study of the Interim Report on the first stage of. the proflOsed <br />Gunnison-Arkansas Project, and that such Committee be composed of <br />. two representatives from the Ari<:ansas Valley, two representatives <br />of the area in Western Colorado affected by the proposed diversion <br />program,. tWJ representatives of the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board designated as Director Stone and R. J. Tipton, Consulting <br />. Engineez:, and one representative of the City of Colorado Springs; <br />and further that John Beaty be responsible for securing the <br />appointment of the Arkansas River Valley representatives and <br />Director stone. arrange for the appointment of representatives for <br />Western Colorado; that such committee report from time to "time <br />to the Colorado Water Conservation Board so that the Board ~ <br />formulate its final comments for submission to the Bureau of Reclama- <br />tion on such proposed project development; and that such committee <br />from time to time lIIeet with representatives of the Bureau of <br />Reclamation. <br /> <br />OIl vote being taken, the motion was lUIanimously carried and <br />declared. adopted. <br /> <br />The Board recessed at noon, to meet again at 1:30 o'clock. <br />
