S. Army Corps of
Engineers. Four main District offices represent Corps activities in Colorado: I) Omaha, 2)
Albuquerque, 3) Sacramento, and 4) Kansas City. The Corps' first flood study was located in Weld
County, Colorado in 1939 and their first flood control project was the Creede, Colorado flood
channel in that was constructed in 1949. Subsequent to these two Corps activities, many Colorado
communities have received federal dollars through the Corps programs studies and projects. The
studies and projects listed below were identified by CWCB staff for presentation at the Board
meeting and represent some of the key projects within the state.
