To avoid a court <br />order, the Bureau and Corps agreed to give three weeks notice if there will be any dry reaches in <br />the river. We have been in constant communication with New Mexico and the Justice <br />Department on this case and will continue to closely monitor it. <br /> <br />ISSUES FOR COLORADO <br />Colorado has the following interests: <br /> <br />I. Protecting Colorado's rights under the Rio Grande Compact; <br /> <br />2. Protecting Colorado's interests in the Closed Basin Project and Platoro Reservoir; <br /> <br />3. Protecting Colorado's ability to use the San Juan River under the Colorado River Compact; <br /> <br />4. Protecting Colorado water users' interests in contracted water from the Bureau of <br />Reclamation. <br /> <br />We think that the silvery minnow issues can and should be solved in New Mexico. We are <br />closely monitoring these cases to determine if and when Colorado should become more actively <br />involved.
