The BLM documented that a natural environment is present in the form of a rainbow and brown trout
fishery. e
. Based on the BLM's biological recommendation, flows of2.5 cfs, summer, and 0.85cfs, winter, are
necessary to preserve the natural environment to a reasonable degree. However, the summer and winter
instream flow recommendations were reduced to 1.2 cfs (8/1 -10/31) and 0.7 cfs (11/1-4/14) based on
water availability analysis. The BLM believes the lower flow recommendation will still preserve the
natural environment.

. CWCB staff has conducted a water availability analysis and determined these amounts are available for
the Board's appropriation.
. CWCB staff has determined that adequate water supplies exist such that the natural environment may be
preserved without limiting or foreclosing the exercise of valid existing water rights.

CONSULTATIONS:

BLM: Roy Smith

8/26/96

DWR: Ken Knox

8/26/96

CWCB STAFF:

e

Prepared By: Uppendahl 4/15/98

Reviewed By: Espegren 5/1198

C:\MARKINEW _RECS\WPSlIRECOMMENDATlON SUMMARY REPORT. doc
