Gale and Valerie A. Moody are applying for a <br />$1,125,000 agricultural loan from the Construction Fund to rehabilitate Owl Creek <br />Reservoir. <br /> <br />The purpose of the loan is to rehabilitate the existing reservoir to provide for the storage <br />of approximately 1,200 acre. feet of water generated from surface runoff from the upper <br />Owl Creek basin. The water stored in the reservoir will be used to inigate <br />approximately 1,200 acres of various cropland located downstream of the facility. <br /> <br />Backe:round <br /> <br />Owl Creek Reservoir is located in Weld County, Colorado, approximately 6 miles east <br />and 3 miles north of the Town of Ault. The reservoir is more specifically located in <br />Sections 25 and 35, Township 8 North, Range 65 West of the 6th Principal Meridan, <br /> <br />The reservoir was originally constructed in 1896 to store water for inigation. The source <br />of water for the reservoir is generated from surface runoff from the Owl Creek basin, <br />which is comprised of the Eastman, Little Owl, and Robinson Creeks tributaries, <br />encompassing over 160 square miles of drainage area. The average flow in Owl Creek <br />ranges from I to 10 cfs. The dam was originally constructed of a granular material, that <br /> <br />Flood Protection. Water Project Planning and Financing.
