Chief, Flood Protection Section <br /> <br />Dan McAuliffe <br />Acting Director <br /> <br />Date: March 14,2001 <br /> <br />Re: Agenda Item 15 - March 26-27, 2001, CWCB Meeting - City of Greeley proposed Poudre Rive' <br />Floodway Program <br /> <br />Introduction <br />The Board staff has been assisting the City of Greeley (City) and Weld Connty, Colorado on flood <br />mitigation activities on the Cache La Poudre River. Presently, the CWCB, Corps of Engineers, FEMA, and <br />the City are preparing new floodplain information on the river. The floodplain information report will <br />provide the basic hydrology and hydraulic characteristics for the river. <br /> <br />. In 1983 and 1999, the City experienced major flooding on the Cache La Poudre River. In addition, the <br />entire Poudre floodplain was in flood stage from Fort Collins to the South Platte River including the Greele) <br />. reach in1983. In response to these flood events, the local govermnents have performed a number of flood <br />reconnaissance investigations to develop flood mitigation and project development strategies. <br /> <br />The City of Greeley welcomes the opportunity to present their Cache La Poudre River Floodway Program to <br />the Board. The City wishes to make a formal presentation to Board, <br /> <br />Presentation <br />The staff has been in communication with the City.
