<br />In 2005 the General Assembly passed HB 1254 which establishes a water efficiency <br />grant program and creates a water efficiency grant program cash fund. The three year <br />program is intended to help implement water efficiency goals identified in the <br />conservation plans of covered entities, and to fund outreach or education programs aimed <br />at demonstrating the benefits of water efficiency. <br /> <br />Colorado Water for the 21-'l Centurv Act <br /> <br />In 2005 the General Assembly passed HB 1177 which develops a process for negotiation <br />of inter basin compacts and the equitable division of the state's waters. The legislation <br />draws heavily on the Statewide Water Supply process and institutionalizes a process to <br />evaluate and negotiate interbasin water issues. The legislation creates an interbasin <br />compact committee and interbasin compact roundtables. The legislation establishes an <br />appropriation and staffmg for the Board for implementation of the Act. <br /> <br />Page 6 of 6 <br />
