state demand for the pool would be less than
what the Las Animas Town Ditch is diverting."

MR. PICKREL:

"We pass somewhere over 27 over the amount
of water in there to get the water to them."

MR. SPARKS I

"This is correct. We think we can work out
an arrangement that would be most advantageous
for all of the appropriators on the Arkansas
River.

A brief item, 'Proposed Amendments to the
State Water Code' - they all failed, with the
exception of some concerning the court proce-
dures. Substantive amendments did pass the
House, but they were rejected by the Senate.

The final item concerns the Narrows Proj-
ect. We have received word from Congressman
Aspinall that hearings on the Narrows Project
will be held in Washington, D. C. on April l6
and 17. This is to reauthorize the Narrows
Project. Governor Love and I will appear before
the committee to testify for the project. If
any of the Board members would like to attend
those hearings on the 16th and l7th, if you
will advise us we will make the necessary
arJ:angements.

Yesterday I testified in the District Court
in Greeley concerning the adjudication in
progress there. a part of which is to adjudicate
a water right to the proposed Narrows Reservoir,
a conditional right. There is still some en-
trenched opposition to the Narrows Project. I
suppose that will continue until it is construct-
ed and perhaps thereafter also.

The Narrows Project was authorized in 1946
as the Board will recall. Twenty-four years ago.
It should have been constructed long since.
Preconstruction started in 1948. During the
period starting in 1965 and through this year.
