Wa1cher <br />Executive Director <br /> <br />Rod Kuharich <br />CWCB Director <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />Dan McAuliffe <br />Deputy Director <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />Agenda Item #11 -- Colorado Foundation for Water Education <br /> <br />Since your last meeting the newly formed Colorado Foundation for Water Education has elected <br />officers, hired an executive director and is working to complete an agreement with the Colorado <br />Water Congress regarding the distribution of the $250,000 for the establishment ofthe foundation. <br /> <br />e The Colorado Water Congress Board is meeting on Nov. 22 to review the agreement. <br /> <br />Copies of a proposed Grant A ward and the agreement are attached. We need you to review the award <br />and the agreement and make a recommendation regarding whether we should execute the documents. <br /> <br />The foundation's 21-member board was chosen on Aug. 29 in Pueblo and includes representatives <br />from agriculture, water conservation, industry, education, recreation and the legislature. The board <br />will meet in different cities throughout the state. Its offices will be in Denver. <br /> <br />The new foundation officers are: Rep. Diane Hoppe (R-Sterling), president; Colorado State Supreme <br />Court Justice Greg Hobbs, vice president; Becky Brooks, Colorado Water Congress, 2nd vice <br />president; Wendy Hanophy, Division of Wildlife, secretary; Lynn Herkenhoff, Water Information <br />Program, assistant secretary; Summit County Commissioner Tom Long, treasurer; Matt Cook, Coors <br />Brewing, assistant treasurer. Two at large seats were also filled by Taylor Hawes, Northwest <br />Colorado Council of Governments, and Lori Ozzello, Northern Colorado Water Conservancy <br />District. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The board has also selected Karla Brown to be its executive director. Brown, a former water quality <br />specialist for the Colorado State Cooperative Extension, holds a masters degree in rangeland <br />ecosystem science from Colorado State University and a bachelors in political science from Cornell <br />University. Her background includes development of water-related research and educational <br />programs, grant writing, public outreach and group facilitation. Previously, she also worked as an <br />environmental consultant for projects in the United States, Africa, Brazil, Kazakhstan and Indonesia. <br />
