For FY 03-04, an
appropriation of$23l,000 is being sought from the Construction Fund to continue the CWCB gaging program.
In addition, the Division of Water Resources (DWR) is requesting $303,000 from the Construction Fund to
continue the operational viability of the state satellite monitoring system. Another $100,000 is being requested
to continue the flood-hardening program adopted by the two agencies. The CWCB gaging program and DWR
satellite monitoring system is ajoint effort between the agencies to strengthen Colorado's data collection
requirements and unify gaging related activities between the two agencies. A total appropriation of $634,000
will be required for the combined state gaging effort in FY 03-04. The combined statewide gaging effort
was initiated in 2001 with the approval of $573,000 from the construction fund. The program was again funded
in 2002 with the approval of $599,000 from the construction fund.

Discussion

The state's gaging program is a collaborative effort between the Board's Flood Protection section,
Stream and Lake Protection section and Water Supply protection section, as well as the DWR, USGS and other
. stakeholders.
