4

. DMSION ENGINEER'S REPORT
Steve Vandiver passed out some hand outs. These are attached.

The forecast for the Conejos and Rio Grande drainages went up substantially between April 1 st and
May 1st. The allocation committee delegated 60% to Rio Grande and 40% to Conejos. The
decrease from tlte project is reflected in these figures and what we allocated to tlte two different
rivers. It raised the Conejos curtailment about 10%, from 16% to 26% and the Rio Grande from 7%
to 12%. Ai. present we are not curtailing the Rio Grande index flows at all. Weare taking tlte return
flows and using the tributary inflow to meet our obligation at the present time.
The Snotel report has decreased dramatically the last two weeks. Steve recommended to tlte
committee that we continue to operate tlte project at its maximum level and continue witlt the water
quality criteria and make the largest deliveries that we can throughout the year. It is only about
35,000 ac ft and this is only about 10% oftlte obligation. The total delivery for Colorado this year
is going to be about 330,000 ac ft.

Garry thanked Steve and' said that he hoped that tlte project could increase tlte amount that they
delivered.

.

Garry asked ifwe needed to make a motion on the recommendations and Allen said that he didn't
believe that a motion needed to be made because it was made at the last meeting and nothing has
changed since.

Tim reaffirmed that with tlte available data he believed that the project is in compliance witlt tlte .
t legislation. ·

OTHER ISSUES

Allen stated that he was pleased tltat tltere is a real probability of getting some extra money to focus
on an explanation for tlte changes in tlte water table.

Steve asked Garry ifhe would be at tlte November meeting. Garry tlten explained what was going
on with filling his position when he retired. He said he would be here in November and hoped tlte
new Area Manager would be with him.

The next regular meeting will be November 19, 1998, at 1 :00 p.m. in the conference room.

Allen made the motion to adjourn and George seconded and it carried.

Meeting adjourned at 3 :45 p.m.

.
