.J.~,jO

DR. CLARK:

"The President of the. Game and Fish
Commission, Mr. Baker, is here. I would
like to introduce Mr. Baker. Clarence
Baker. "

MR. BAKER:
DR. CLARK:

"Thank you."

I

"We also have Mr. Roy Eckles from
Lamar, a member of the Game and Fish Com-
mission. There are other personnel from
the Game and Fish Commission here but those
two Commissioners are present."

MR. NELSON:

"Just how would you like to have us
proceed here, Dr. Clark? Does the Game and
Fish Commission have a statement they would
like to make to us or what is the procedure?'

DR. CLARK:

"No, I think this is more of an explora-
tory meeting of the two groups getting to-
gether. We seem to have three major con-
flicts of thinking and I would like to just
review those very briefly and then we will
proceed from there.

The first conflict as I see it, is the
optimum use of a water conservation pool or
survival fish pool, and there the conflict
is optimum for fish production versus sur-
vival of the fish that may be in the lake
at the time it is drawn down by the irriga-
tors. The second conflict as I see, of
interest, would be providing sufficient
water to accommodate the boaters versus
again survival of the fish; and those two
points bring out the third conflict that we
have had up to the present time. Namely,
the storage of 10,000 acre-feet versus the
figure of 20,000 acre-feet of water to be
held in this pool.

It is my understanding that your Board,
Mr. Nelson, through your Director, has made
a study as to what would be the consequences
of the storage of 10,000 acre-feet of water.
I made the request of Mr. Sparks and I think
he's had Mr. Gildersleeve and other engi-
neers on his staff work on it. The reason
that I requested the study of the 10,000
acre-feet was that I found in the minutes of
your past meetings that you had negotiated
with the Corps of Engineers, and that the

I
