+-.....":1:":1:

like to have him say a few words. Mr.
Eckles. ,.

MR. ECKLES:

"Gentlemen, I certainly have enjoyed Mr.
Sparks' remarks. He has given me some very
valuable information, especially as to
evaporation loss and siltation. Some of
the irrigation companies seem to think that
it would be inoperative. They have always
said it can't work and it won't ~ork, but
with the control we have of this dam, this
being one of the newer reservoirs, and the
measurements they have and so an, it looks
to me like it could be handled very easily.

As to the 10,000 acre-feet or the
20,000, of course, I would like to see as
large a pool as reasonably could be used.
But when you bring in the facts of the cost
and other items, I don't know whether we
could stand the 20,000 acre-feet pool or not
from a cost standpoint. We ~on.t know
where we are going to get the water yet and
we don't know how much money the Game and
Fish Commission can spend I but we are in
favor of it as long as we do not hurt the
irrigators. He realize they are short of
water. We don/t want one drop of their
water, but if we can store some water in
there and buy it and pay for it, I don't
think anyone should feel badly about it.
The people down in our part of the country,
the most of them, are in favor of it. Of
course.. there are a lot of the fanners who
don't understand and think we are after
their water; that we are going to take their
water, which we don't want. When the pro-
position is clearly explained to them, we
can usually show them our side of the pic-
ture and get rid of their objections.

I think that's about alI, gentlemen,
that I have at this time. Thank you."

"Thank you, Mr. Eckles. Is there anyone
from the department staff who would like to
make any statement at this time - the Game
and Fish Department staff?

I

MR. NELSON:

I

Mr. Milenski, who represents that area
on our Board, would you have anything you'd
like to say at this time?"
