<br />Agency Updates <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Dan McAuliffe Reports for Military Service; Rick Brown Appointed Acting CWCB Deputy <br />Director: On May 10, as Dan McAuliffe received his military orders to report to the Army base <br />in Georgia, Rick Brown was appointed Acting Deputy Director in his place. This appointment <br />will be for approximately 12 months, and during this time Rick will be assuming the assignments <br />that Dan had, as well as continuing with his SWSI work. <br /> <br />Kevin Houck elected to A WRA Board of Directors: Kevin Houck, Community Assistance <br />Program Manager with the Flood Protection Section, has been elected to the Board of Directors <br />for the American Water Resources Association (A WRA) of Colorado. He will serve on the <br />Board with Jack Byers of the State Engineer's Office, who will serve as president for the coming <br />year. A WRA is a professional organization that exists for the purpose of advancing the water <br />resources field, establishing a common meeting ground for water resources professionals, and <br />collecting and disseminating information in the water resources field. This is the second board <br />that Kevin Houck currently serves on (Association of State Floodplain Managers is the other). <br /> <br />Joe Busto elected Vice Chair ofNAIWMC: CWCB staffmember Joe Busto was nominated <br />and elected Vice Chair of the North American Interstate Weather Modification Council <br />(NAIWMC). Arlen Huggins of the Desert Research Institute in Reno, NY was elected the Chair. <br />This is good news as two wintertime snowpack augmentation programs/states are now in control <br />of the Council and will seek to secure new federal funding and move Council initiatives of <br />coordination, information sharing, and cooperation along_ Sadly, the treasurer of the Council . <br />passed away and our web site commemorates him with this text, "The North American Interstate <br />Weather Modification Council and the entire field of weather modification lost a good friend <br />when Dr. Joseph Warburton passed away at his home on April 30, 2005. Joe's accomplislunents <br />in the fields of weather modification and atmospheric science were many during his long and <br />, <br />, distinguished career..Jlle published over 120 papers in-refer.eed scientific joumalsand_garj'Jered <br />many awards, including the Weather Modification Association's Vincent-Shaefer A ward,"for <br />scientific and technological discoveries that have constituted a major contribution to the <br />advancement of weather modification". He was an active member in the NAIWMC in recent <br />years, holding the office of Secretary/Treasurer. Joe's experience and good humor will be greatly <br />missed." <br /> <br />Stream and Lake Protection Section-Candidate Stream List: Stream and Lake Protection Section- <br />Candidate Stream List: Staff is providing a copy of the latest version of the Candidate Stream List for <br />public review. The Candidate Stream List provides the names of streams and lakes that the <br />recommenders would like to collect field data for the current year. As the field season progresses, it is <br />expected that many of the streams on the Candidate Stream List will be removed due to variable field <br />conditions and other unforeseen circumstances. On a regular basis, Staff will update this list to reflect <br />any changes and to provide the best and most current infonnation to the public. There might also be <br />instances where streams or lakes are added to the Candidate Stream List.
