had pushed these studies off some years in
the future and we had anticipated that we
would start these studies in F. Y. 1967. The
Albuquerque office of the Corps of Engineers
is also planning this type of analysis on a
basin-wide area. When we last met with f1r.
Sparks to discuss funds, I took an appraisal
of our personnel and subsequently deterffiined
that we will have sufficient per~onnel to
initiate studies in F. Y. 1966 if funds could
be made available.

Nr. Sparks was not aware of this but I
would suggest that consideration be given by
your Board to a request for $30,000 of Basin
money for reclamation in the Arkansas basin
area below the Pueblo Reservoir."

"Thank you, Pat. Now I'd like Nr. Vande-
moer, who represents the South Platte below
Denver, where there was a great loss of proper-
ty and lives, do you have any comments or
observations?"

"Well, I'll just second everything Frank
has said. If you get to comparing losses, I
think the Arkansas is worse than the Platte.
Larry has been on both of them and I know that
he agrees with that, but we still had a lot
of damage and we had the same thing that Frank
did in that we had a creek called Pawnee Creek
down there that flooded about a day ahead of
this Platte flood that came do~m. In fact, I
think that Larry came to Sterling that day.

I would like to ask Joe if, in this study
of the Lower Platte, do you include this Pawnee
Creek that hits us at Sterling every thirty
years or so?"

"Yes, we have been studying Pawnee Creek
and we will restudy it in the light of this
event that just hit."
