June 10th/11th - Northern Target Area: Five cloud base-planes and the cloud-top plane were
launched at 9:02 p.m. on the 10th toward a eastward-moving line of severe storms in Eastern
Colorado. Two cloud-base planes began seeding for hail northwest of Burlington, CO at 9:53
p.m. and a third at 10:15 p.m. The fourth and fifth planes began seeding the line at 10:22 and
10:43 p.m., respectively; the cloud-top plane began at 10:51 p.m. As the storm moved into
Kansas' Sherman County, weather conditions for flying at cloud-base became too poor to
continue and all such flights were terminated at 11 :05 p.m. However, cloud-top seeding
continued through central Sherman County until 12:30 a.m., June 11th, at which time it landed to
replenish its dry ice supply and refuel. Hail up to 23/4" in diameter and flooding was reported in
Kit Carson County, Colorado. Initial reports of hail sizes up to 1 3/4" were reported in Sherman
County as well as 60-70 mph surface winds.

NOTE: 766 hail-claims were received during the above period

June 30th/July Ist - Northern Target Area: Three planes were launched at 8: 12 a.m. to a
severe storm near S1. Francis, in Cheyenne County. However, low cloud ceilings forced them to
land in Goodland with no seeding being performed. Hail sizes of3/4" - 7/8" were reported with
another of 1 3/4" and massive crop damage outside the target area during this time.

At 1 0: 12 a.m. the cloud-top Cheyenne was scrambled to a severe storm in Thomas
County. Simultaneously, cloud bases had lifted enough to launch two planes from Good1and. The
cloud-top plane began seeding over northern Thomas County at 10:38 a.m.; cloud base seeding
began in the same area at 10:35 and 10:45 a.m., respectively. The two cloud-base planes seeded
until flying conditions deteriorated, landing in Oakley at 11 :08 a.m. However, the cloud-top plane
continued seeding until storm intensity dropped below our hail threshold at 11: 15 a.m.

At 1 :26 p.m. six planes were sent to seed a southeasterly-moving supercell near Brewster
in western Thomas County from which a tornado was reported some 25 minutes later. The first
aircraft began seeding for hail at 1 :36 p.m. in eastern Shennan County and was joined by the
others at 1:58, 2:02, 2:10, 2:14 and 2:25 p.m. Seeding followed the storm through southwest
Thomas County into Logan County where at 4:47 p.m. operational control was passed on to
Lakin Radar. Another tornado sighting was posted 9 miles SSW of Russell Springs.

Southern Target Area: Between 2 - 2:15 p.m. two of the aircraft which had not been sent to the
northern target area earlier were airborne heading to an E- W oriented severe storm in southeast
Wallace County where seeding began at 2:31 and 2:43 p.m., respectively. All the other aircraft
were seeding a tornadic supercell moving into Logan County. The supercell and the Wallace
storm eventually merged into a single storm and pushed further southeast across Wichita, Scott,
northeast Kearny and Finney counties with all 9 aircraft seeding it. A tornado was reported 8
miles south of Marien thai in eastern Wichita County and cloud rotation was sighted in northwest
Finney CountY until near cloud collapse south of Holcomb where seeding finally ended at 5:43
p.m.

29
