<br />,....- <br /> <br />need to be taken into account in or<l,er to insure the sC,ientific <br /> <br />integrity, reliability, and safety of seeding activities. <br /> <br />In general, seeding will be undertaken only if: <br /> <br />(1) The cloud top temperatures are expected to be from <br />-10 degrees to -30 degrees Centigrade, <br /> <br />(2) There are no low level stable atmospheric layers which <br />would restrict the vertical dispersion of the seeding <br />ma ter ia 1. <br /> <br />(3) Cloud base heights are below the crest of the <br />mountains which comprise the target area, <br /> <br />(4) Lower-level temperatures are cold enough (-5 degrees <br />Centigrade or colder) to promote silver iodide <br />nucleation. and <br /> <br />(5) Wind directions are such that the silver iodide <br /> <br />material can reasonably be expected to travel from the <br /> <br />generator or generators to be used to the target <br /> <br />area. <br /> <br />-3- <br />
