<br />RECORD OF DECISION <br />ON AN ApPLICATION FOR A <br />WEATHER MODIFICATION PERMIT <br /> <br />APPLICANT: <br /> <br />Lawrence M. Box 58 <br />Durango, Colorado 81301 <br /> <br />DATE OF APPLICATION: July 21,1997 <br /> <br />PROJECT: Commercial seeding operation of winter storm clouds with ground <br />based cloud nuclei generators to augment snow for enhanced <br />operation of the Telluride ski area and for enhancement ofrunofffor <br />irriga,twn purposes. <br /> <br />TARGET AREA: The target area includes portions of Township 42 North, Range 9 <br />West, New Mexico Principal Meridian (NMPM), located south of <br />Telluride in the eastern part of San Miguel County, Colorado. <br /> <br />DURATION: During the first year of operation, applicant has proposed to begin <br />operations on November 1, 1997 and continue for five months <br />through March 31,1998. <br /> <br />PERSON IN CHARGE: The person in charge of the project is Lawrence M. Hjermstad of <br />Western Weather Consultants, Inc., of Durango, Colorado. <br /> <br />PERMIT SOUGHT: An original permit pursuant to S .36-20-112, CRS, for a time period <br />of five years' duration pursuant to 9 36-20-114, CRS. <br /> <br />ACTION TO BE TAKEN: The findings will be the basis for an final decision to either grant the <br />permit, grant the permit subject to conditions, or deny the permit. An <br />initial decision to issue the permit with. conditions was made on <br />November 4, 1997. <br /> <br />DELEGATION OF ATlTHORTTY <br /> <br />This application was acted upon by the Director of the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />pursuant to the delegation of authority by the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of <br />Natural Resources on September 25,1987 and reaffirmed October 14, 1992. <br /> <br />1 <br />
