Statement of the nature and objectives of proposed project. <br /> <br />The nature of the proposed program is to augment natural precip- <br /> <br />.itation within the project area to provide improved snowpacks and <br /> <br /> <br />additional water supplies for storage or beneficial use. The opera- <br /> <br /> <br />tional technology and procedures utilized in this program were <br /> <br /> <br />derived from previous snoV."Pack augmentation programs operated in <br /> <br /> <br />Colorado, specifically: the Climax and 1,olf Creek research programs, <br /> <br /> <br />the Colorado River Basin Pilot Project and the last three winter's <br /> <br /> <br />programs operated by "'estern Weather Consultants, Inc. in the Central <br /> <br /> <br />Colorado and Southeastern San Juan }lountains. <br /> <br />The objectives of the project are to increase snowpacks in the <br />drainage basins of all major mountain massifs in the project area <br />which should result in increased run-off into the storage systems in <br />these basins and result in an additional water supply for agricultural, <br />industrial or domestic use along with an additional sno"~ack for winter <br />recreational use. <br /> <br />b. }lap of the proposed operating area specifying the primary target <br /> <br /> <br />area and the area reasonably expected to be affected. <br /> <br />A map of Colorado showing the primary project area is attached. <br /> <br /> <br />Also, indicated by the hatched area are the project area counties <br /> <br /> <br />and enclosed in the single black line are the counties adjacent to <br /> <br /> <br />the project area counties which could reasonably be expected to be <br /> <br /> <br />affected by the project. <br /> <br />c.
