Suit... <br />10:1, Salt Lake City, Utah 84124, hereinafter refer- <br />red was "Applicant," hasor [sabout to file with the <br />Executive DJrector of the Colorado Department of <br />Naturai Resources an application for a permit to <br />conduct weather modification o~ratioDs within <br />the State of Colorado and wlthin the areas <br />hereinafter more specifically stated. The Appli- <br />cant shall conduct such operations for and on be- <br />half of the Bureau of Redamation, Montrose S~y. <br />water Office, 2075 East Main St, Montrose CO <br />81401. (The name of the person who shall be in <br />control of the weather modification project for the <br />corporate Applicant is John R 'I'liompson, who <br />holds Weather Modification LiceIl8e no 85-7). <br />The primary target area of the operations for <br />which a Weather Modification Pernut is sought is <br />described as follows: <br />Experimental cloud seeding will be conducted to <br />affect the primary target area within the Grand <br />Mesa region of western Colorado. This primary <br />target area includes those portions at and above <br />the 8,500 foot (msll elevation within tbe area <br />bounded by TISR2E on the northwest, T9SR91W <br />on the northeast, Tl2SR91 Won the southeast, and <br />TI3SR97W on the southwest, This includes the <br />eastern ~rtion of Mesa County and the northern <br />portion of Delta County. <br /> <br />Thegeneral area beyond the primary target area <br />which may reasonably be expected to be affected by <br />the weather modification operations for which a <br />pennit is sought mcludes a ROrtion ofthe following <br />counties within the State of Colorado: <br />Eastern Mesa <br />Northern one-half Delta <br />Extreme northwest Gunnison <br />Extreme western Pitkin <br />Extreme southeast Garfield <br />The expected duration of the weather modifica- <br />tion operations for which a permit is south is from <br />N?f~~~~;d1!~:c~r~e ~:~~~e~l~~R~ation <br />experiments is to derermine whether clouds over <br />the Grand Mesa can be effectively modified to aug- <br />ment winter snowpack. A CO~\Jence of the ex- <br />periments could result in a slight augmentation to <br />the snowpack within the research area, although <br />that is not the intent. <br />Complete details of the operations to be con- <br />ducted by the Applicant are available on request <br />from the Applicant or irom the Executive Director <br />of the DeJlartment of Natural Resources, 231 Col- <br />umbine Building, 1845 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203. <br /> <br />A public hearing on the application for a permit <br />to conduct the proposed weather modification op- <br />erations shall be held at 10:30 o'clock AM on <br />September 26, 1985 at SPRUCE LODGE on Grand <br />Mesa, one-half mile east of Wan:!
