OPERATIONAL SUMMARY - 1993 <br /> <br />Table 1, on the following page, summarizes relevant 1993 WKWM <br />Program operational flight and seeding information plus all days <br />upon which crop-hail insurance claims were reported. Each flight <br />day was broken down into whether the flying for the day was: <br /> <br />R...to increase Rain only <br /> <br />H...to reduce Hail only <br /> <br />C...Qombined, to increase rain and reduce hail, both <br /> <br />O...Qbservation---cloud examination, no seeding performed <br /> <br />Other pertinent information relating to operations are to be <br />found in the back of this report in the following appendices: <br /> <br />(1) Appendix A - Historic Project Operational Activity Summary <br />(seeding and observation flights) <br /> <br />(2) Appendix B - Historic Monthly Number of seeding Days for <br />Hail and/or Rain Augmentation <br /> <br />(3) Appendix C - Historic Numbers of Monthly Flight Hours, <br />Seeding Hours and Seeding Agent Dispensed <br /> <br />(4) Appendix D - County Weather Modification Participation <br /> <br />(5) Appendix G - NOAA Form 17 - 4A, Final Report on 1993 <br />monthly seeding activities <br />, <br /> <br />This was the second consecutive year with 5 aircraft assigned <br />to the WKWM Program. No new operational records were set this past <br />year in flight numbers or hours, seeding time or amounts of seeding <br />agents dispensed or radar run time. Table 1 shows the relevant <br />operational numbers accumulated in 1993 and the crop hail insurance <br />claim summary through Oct. 12th. <br /> <br />There were 358 total flights of which 229 were seeding and 63 <br />were observations. Total cloud base and cloud-top seeding flight <br />time amounted to 625.4 hours. Actual seeding time at cloud base <br />was 257.3 hours (15,436 minutes) and the cloud top in-cloud seeding <br />time was 23.2 hours (83,560 seconds); 55,845 grams silver iodide <br />were burned and 3158.6 kg of dry ice were released, respectively. <br />Of the 229 seeding flights, 189 were at cloud base and 40 at cloud <br />top. <br /> <br />19 <br />
