.

6.

STATEMENT Of SKill AND
EXPERIENCE OF APPLICANT

CORPORATION BACKGROUND

In the fields of weather modification operations and cloud physics
research, Atmospherics Incorporated personnel have now logged a total of
78 project seasons including approximately 854 man-months of total effort
within these areas of interest. The group is dedicated to professional
level operations of programs related to all aspects of atmospheric pheno-
mena. I

.

Since 1960, our group has logged over 4,000 hours of aircraft time
on cloud seeding projects. Aircraft types have included the F8F, P38,
P40, f51, AT6, SNJ, Cessna 172, Cessna 180, Cessna T206, Piper Twin Comanche,
Piper Apache, Piper Aztec and Piper Navajo. Delivery systems aboard these
aircraft have dispensed silver iodide, lead iodide, sodium chloride, lithium
chloride, silver chloride, ammonium nitrate, urea, indium, liquid nitrogen,
carbon dioxide and a wide variety of organic compounds.

Of particular importance to the activities proposed in this document,
is our background of experience in Northeast Colorado. During the period
1960-1965, we played an active role in the hail research field programs
conducted by Colorado State University. This experience has included the
cooperative efforts of radar surveillance and aircraft seeding. Our pilots
are familiar w'th the coordination necessary in programs where radar plays
an important role in total operations.

.

from a meteorological point-of-view, our personnel understand the
general growth characteristics of cumu1iform developments in Colorado. Our
people have been associated with programs designed to study cloud growth
mechanisms as well as conduct a wide variety of aircraft weather modifica-
tion seeding missions. for purposes of proper treatment in applications
programs, these studies have emphasized the proper timing within the life
cycle of cumulus developments, the optimum areas of application and the
amount of material necessary for maximum results frOm both cumulus and
stratocumu1us cloud types. AI is also current on nucleation technology
and the various devices available for nuc1~i generation. We feel this
