1 operators are senior appropriators on the river, and they are

2 directly affected first with more water.

3 MRS. HASTINGS: Are the cattlemen in this valley

4 in favor of this project, as far as you know?

S MR. MYERS: As far as I know. We have worked out

8 these agreements with. them, as it was stated by Mr. Hjermstad,

1 and they are -- the cattlemen are members of this protective

8 the natural resources committee here.

9 MR. MOCK: Do you know if any increase in the

10 river flow -- does all of this increase stay in this valley,

11 or does some of it go downstream to New Mexico or other parts

12 of the state of Colorado?

13

14

15

16

11

18

19

20

21

22

23

24

2S

MR. MYERS: Well, as the stream flow is increased

at the index stations, of course, due to the Rio Grande River

Compact with the lower states, New Mexico and Texas, this

percentage is increased as our index at the index stations

increase.

MR. MOCK: And would three to five per cent

increase in available water give you an adequate irrigation

supply, or would you still need increase beyond that?

MR. MYERS: We would still need an increase

beyond that because most of our rivers are over-appropriated;

and a three to five per cent increase, depending upon the

year, would not be an adequate supply some years.

HEARING OFFICER LINN: Any other questions?

-48-
