<br />1 Officer and the Advisory Committee? <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />A <br /> <br />Yes, I have a statement. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />Would you please present that statement, sir? <br />I <br />, <br />At a meeting held here in the valley February l5, <br /> <br />Q <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />A <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />1975, with Governor Lamm, after a full day of discussing our <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />lack-of-water problems with him, he told us, as a Board and <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />members of other groups present, that he thought there were <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />three things that could answer the water problems in the san <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br />Luis Valley; number one, the Closed Basin project; number two, <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br />the weather modification; and number three, the development <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />of deep artesian,aquifers. <br /> <br />12 <br /> <br />He asked us to follow up on these and try to <br /> <br />13 <br /> <br />implement a program. This is why our interest was stepped <br /> <br />14 <br /> <br />up in these areas, and we spent considerable time and effort <br /> <br />IS <br /> <br />in trying to get factual information to any group that might <br /> <br />18 <br /> <br />be interested in augmenting our water supply somewhere or <br /> <br />11 <br /> <br />somehow. <br /> <br />18 <br /> <br />Our main concern of our District Board on any <br /> <br />19 <br /> <br />proposal is to monitor it from start to finish to insure that <br /> <br />20 <br /> <br />adequate safeguards are built in the proposal to protect <br /> <br />21 <br /> <br />valley water rights and valley interests. <br /> <br />22 <br /> <br />Q <br /> <br />Mr. Myers, in that connection, in that regard, <br /> <br />23 <br /> <br />other than the fact that you have met with groups and taken <br /> <br />24 <br /> <br />an interest in augmenting the water supply in the San Luis <br /> <br />2S <br /> <br />Valley, let me ask you a direct question with regard to the <br /> <br />-46- <br />
