SJAASTAD: I'm Gerald Sjaastad, Deputy Direc- <br /> <br />tor of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources. We're <br /> <br />here today to conduct a.hearing under the Colorado Weather <br /> <br />Modification Act of 1972, pertaining specifically to an <br /> <br />application by Western weather Consultants of Durango, Colo- <br /> <br />rado, to conduct weather modification operations commencing <br /> <br />in the near future and through 30 April 1976, depending upon <br />\ <br />weather conditions, on behalf of the Valley Growers, Incorp- <br /> <br />orated of Center, Colorado. <br /> <br />I will give you just a word or two about the <br /> <br />decision-making process. The decision on whether or not a <br /> <br />permit will be granted will be made by Mr. Harris Sherman, <br /> <br />the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Natural <br /> <br />Resources. <br /> <br />As information upon which Mr. Sherman will base <br /> <br />his decision will be advice from a statutory Advisory Com- <br /> <br />mittee, a quorum of which Committee is present today. In <br /> <br />addition to that information, information that is gath~r~d <br /> <br />at the hearing today, which will be conducted by Mr. John <br /> <br />Phillip Linn of Denver, will be presented to Mr. Sherman for <br /> <br />his decision. <br /> <br />-2- <br />
