The comparison of performance between these two sub-samples is
shown in table 3 below:

large Clouds

The sub-sample of 7 large seeded clouds received a synergetic analysis. In average. the seeding
operations on these large douds affected 50 % of their whole volume: with a perfect liming (100 % of
the material went to the douds in their first half-lifetime). A lotal of 28 nares were used in this sub-
sample for an effective dose about 45 ice-nuclei per liter.

Also in average. large clouds were about 20 minutes old when the operations took place: the operation
lasted about 25 minutes, and the large seeded douds lived 170 minutes.

Table 3 shows the corresponding results:

Table 3: large Seeded Sample versus Virtual Control Sample (7 couples. averages)

Variable Seeded Sample Control Sample Simple Ratio Increases (%)
lifetime 170 min 140 min 121 21
Area , , 1.12 12
1650 km 1473 km
Volume 6565 km.l 5489 km' 1.20 20
Volume 1899 km-1 1415km' 1.34 34
Above 6 km
Prec. In average, the seeding
operations on these type B douds affected 30 % of their whole volume; with a good timing (64 % of the
material went to the douds in their first half-lifetime). A total of 34 flares were used in this sub-sample
for an effective dose - 40 ice-nuclei per liter.

Also in average. type B clouds were 75 minutes old when the operahons took place; the operation
lasted about 40 minutes, and the type B seeded douds lived 205 minutes.

Table 4 shows the results:

45
