p.m. before diverting to Haskell Coun~y. The Scott City aircraft
was also scrambled to Lane County at 7:12 p.m. but again diverted
to BE Wichita County. At 7:32 p.m. one base plane ended seeding in
western :Kearny County then flew to a line of sma.ll storms in
Haskell County. It began seeding near Sublette at 7:51 p.m. leaving
the two other cloud base aircraft to continue seeding in WiChita
and Kearny countie5. As the cloud systems began moving more
northeasterly I seeding continued east into Kearny J Scott and Finney
counties. The cloud top plane seeced in Finney and Baskell
counties. The cloud base plane, down for maintenance, was able to
get airborne at 8:35 a.m. and join in seeding at 9:l~ p.m. As the
systems moved east some seeding was also done in Ford and Gray
counties, however, cloud bases were lowering as were cloud tops and,
intensities. ~ll aircraft flights were terminated between 9:06
p.m. and 9:23 p.m. when all seeding er.ded. Total flight time was
22;8 hours; seeding agent dlspensedwas 908 grams silver iodide and
103.2 ldlog;:ams dry ice.

MAY 13th. OPERATIONAL DAY #6: Early afternoon saw the development
of a weak N-S line of storms building along the Kansas/Colorado
state line near Greeley and Hamilton counties. Initially, one cloud
base plane was scrambled at 2:l0 p.m.; a second at 2:34 p.m.
Others were scrambled at 2:48 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Seeding began for
hail at 2:55 p.m. in SW Graeley County with a second joining at
3:02 p.m. The Greeley storms abated and seeding ended at 3:41p.m.
At nearly the same time new storms developed just north of Syracllse
with all four planes in that area soon seeding for hail; seeding
was begun between 3:48 and 3:54 p.m. By 3:58 p.m. numerous weak
radar echoes began showing up in a line from near Sharon springs to
the SSW to\~ard Springfield, CO. By 4:05 p.m. inflows were much
lower 60 rainfa'::'l st.imulation was perfor-med; two planes ended
seeding at 4:08 p.m., however, one was divert:ed to new storms
moving northward into Haskell County from Seward. Eventually, the
same plane was diverted again toward a weak storm area west of
Lakin, near Kendall. Anot, her plane began seeding near Tribune at
4:24 p.m.; a second moved there after performing rain stimulation
in eastern Greeley and western Wichita counties, having worked w1th
another aircraft there. seeding for hail began near ~endall <l.'t 5; 26
p.m. but dropped back into a rain stimulation. mode at 5:34 p.m.
Seeding ended about 10 NW of Lakin at 5:42 p.m. with patrolling
oontinuing until 6:02 p.m. Meanwhile, the cloud top plane, which
had gotten airborne much earlier J moved into southern Haskell-
southeastern Grant for seeding at 5:52 p.m. The response to cloud
top seeding was apparently excellent. From 6:15 p.m. until past
7:18 p.m. the overall rain volume of cloud increased considerably.
The seeded storm moved northerly from Grant and Haskell into
western Finney and eastern Rearny producing copious rainfall. Two
cloud base aircraft were again scrambled to assist seeding the
larger storm, one was scrambled at 6:48, the other at 6:59 p.m.
Both seeded into vigorous updrafts of the storm as it assumed a
more linear E-W shape and moved into northwestern Finney prior to
its collapse. Cloud base seeding was performed from 6:53 through
7:44 p.m. The cloud top continued seeding into the Finney storms
then moved well southeast on new storms moving into Gray and Ford
