Specifically, on August 24,
1996 we witnessed a significant storm on our SSS ranch where we fired the cannons from 5:35pm to
7:03pm and reduced a serious threat of hail damage to light precipitation. We also observed that
surrounding our protected area to the north, east, and south was strong hail activity.

On our Felmlee ranch, our spinach supervisor, Gary Dix, felt strongly that the times.we fired there'
we inluoited any potential hail formation.

We were also encouraged by the positive comments from our surrounding neighbors. Dr: Bigelow,
Fred Simpson, and Randy Mortensen border our SSS ranch to the east. They indicated to our ranch
manager, Mark Inness, that they felt we were "doing some good with them". In addition, AC.
Gunnels; a neighbor of the Felmlee ranch and an opponent of the project at the hearing, commented
that he now feels they have potential for the Valley.

In conclusion, by having these tools (cannons) available to us, we feel strongly we saved many
cuttings of spinach and lettuce, and quite possibly the entire potato crop on our SSS ranch. They are
truly a very necessary program for our farming situation in the San Luis Valley.

If you should have any questions of need further information, please contact me at the above address.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
