More detailed description and photographs of Muddy <br />Road facilities are contained in the previously distributed companion <br />booklet "Cloud Seeding in Kansas". <br /> <br />A. Operations Facilities <br /> <br />The Muddy Road Operations Center located at Lakin Airport <br />consisted of: <br /> <br />1. A complete modern operations building located near the <br />aircraft parking ramp provided very comfortable accomodations for, <br />the ground and air crews. The building consisted of a radar-computer <br />room, a maintenance room, and an administration/data analysis <br />room. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />2. A 3500 foot paved and lighted runway and paved parking <br /> <br />ramp. <br /> <br />3. A permanent radar tower and weather proof radome. <br />4.A mobile van used for housing the rawinsonde equipment. <br />5., A seeding material and equipment storeroom. <br /> <br />B. Equipment <br /> <br />The major items of equipment were: <br /> <br />1. (2) turbo-charged Piper Aztec seeder aircraft fitted <br />with cloud-top seeding devices and airborne radar; <br />based at Lakin Airport. <br /> <br />2. A Piper Comanche 250, cloud-base seeder; based <br />at Dodge City Airport. <br /> <br />5 <br />
