Application was submitted for a permit to
conduct seeding operations along a space in Colorado approximately
20 miles wide, adjacent to the western Muddy Road boundary.
Following a hearing in Denver by the Colorado Department of
Natural Resources, a permit was issued to the WKGMD to conduct
both rain augmentation and hail suppression within the requested
zone.

F. Storm Documentation

One of the recognized deficiencies of earlier Muddy Road
operations was the lack of a suitable method for recording storm
movements and growth patterns while cloud seeding was in progress.
Installation of the Data General computer with the associated CIC
programs for generating and storing radar data provided a con-
venient method for filling this gap.
Due to computer equipment problems, computer recordings
were not started until mid-June. When the computer was non-opera-
tional, 35mm photographs of the PPI were used to record storm
behavior.
The computer generated echo displays were available, in
PPI and RHI form, for use in real-time replay and storage on disk
cartridges and/or hard copy printouts. Examples of the computer
generated radar data are shown in Section VI of this report.

10
