.

silver iodide will be used as the updraft (cloud base)
seeding material. Dispersal of AGI will be oontinuous while
in areas of updraft of one meter per second or more, In order
to obtain maximum diffusion of the AGI while being transported
by the updraft to the supercooled cloud regions, the aircraft
will travel the full range of the updraft. Fig. 2

3,5 Communications

Ground to air communications will be accomplished
using FM frequency 155,10 MHz. A base statiqn will be at the
Operations Center, with each aircraft having a dedicated trans-
ceiver. AVHF transceiver will also be located at the Operations
Center, Aircraft will transmit on VHF multicom frequency when
above the altitude authorized for transmitting on the. FM fre-
quency, The Project Director will utilize the FM transmitter
as primary and the VHF as back up.

. A commercial telephone will be installed at the
Operations Center for use in alerting aircrews, accessing the
U.s. Bureau of Reclamation Environmental Data Network (EDN),
and for general administrative use, A drop in this same tele-
phone circuit will be located in the Project Director's quarters,

All pilots will have a commercial phone installed in
their quarters. The project director will be provided with the
phone number of each pilot. In addition, each pilot will obtain
a paging phone system for their local area, and keep it with them
at all times when they are away from their commercial phone. For
those not located in areas of commercial paging systems, every
effort will be made to be integrated into the local law enforce-
ment system without interfering with their system,

3.6 Weather Radar

Storm monitoring and seeding control will be with a
C-Band radar located at the Lakin Operations Center. The radar
unit has both PPI and RHI scopes. The unit has an L-band air-
craft. Aircraft transponder signals can be displayed on the radar
PPI scope to permit plotting of seeder aircraft position relative
to the echo area.

3.7 Other Data Collection Equipment

A remote computer terminal, owned by the WKGMD #1 will
be located at the Operations Center and used to routinely access
data from the EON for use in forecasting and other daily oper-
ational decisions.

Agreements have been obtained with the Bureau of Reclam-
ation in Denver, Colorado to utilize services.
