would be expected to adequately handle any natural and augmented

precipitation result{ng from this project.

It normally takes several se2sons of operations to gather
suff icient da ta .to eval ua te the prec ipi ta tion changes wi thin the
project area with a reasonable statistical oegree of confidence. An
operational report will be furnished to the program participants and
the Director of Natural Resources following each seeding season in
which precipitation within the project area will be indicated with
any pertinent co~~ents to comparisons with respect to normal or
precipitation in adjacent areas. This proposed program will be
operated nearly identical to programs operated by l~estern !"eather
Consultants, Inc. during the past five years in Colo,'ado. Evaluations
of these programs have been made under contacts from the State of
Colorado to C.S.U. We would anticpate similiar evaluation results
from this proposed program.

}lany design and operational features of this program have been

based upon the findings and experience learned through op~rating the

Bureau of Reclamation's Colorado River Basin Pilot Project in the

Upper San Juan River Basin. The placement of ground-based

generators, identification of storm systems with favorable modifi-

ca tion potential and concern for public saf el:.Y and a,'areness through

responsible operations are specifically some of the 'refinements to be
