The

" " . .
heavier precipitation was found to be concentrated in two areas.

,,}rhe first, area is located in Southwest Colorado .near Durango and

th~$an Juan National Forest (it should be noted that the Bureau

'of Reclamat:ion conducted cloudseeding operations over the upper,

I ~.

Sari'Juan River Basin during portions of the 1975 winter season).

The second area ,stretches across Grand Junction, extending
., . .

, .' , ' .
eastward over the Grand Mesa National Forest. This area is part

" ,.
" ,
of a broad' tongue of above normal precipitation that reaches' f~om

the utah-Colorado border northeastward to the Continental Divide.

The Grand Mesa proj ect area fared well during the operational

period. Although the heaviest precipitation (compared to nor~~l)

occ].lrred slightly west, the Mesa was well wi thin the wet zone.

There are two official precipitation reporting stations on the

Mesa, although normal data are not calculated. Mesa Lakes Resort

,
received 10"4" during the .operating period.

Official data were

not received from Bonham Reservoir for the month of February

but, io" were'measured during the balance of, the operating period

~' ,

a':'ct.it is' estimated that 12" to 13" fell during the full period.

Based, upon this analysis, it would appear that the C-21 project

area received approximately 140% of the normal precipitation~"
