' ,
Precipitation' in January was generally associated with weak

weather systems moving into Colorado from ,the northwest. The

. ,
heavi'est amounts were 'reported after the 28th when a relatively

deep trough aloft, positioned itself over the Plateau States.

February was' 'quite similar to January with the heavier amounts

,occurring on the loth, 14th and 17th of the month. The first

half of March continued to follow the lead of the previous two

months as the more significant amounts occurred with well-organized

storm systems that extended from the surface up into the higher

atmosphere on the 6th and 9th. From the 21st of March through

April, a deep cyclonic ~irculation anchored itself over the

west coast, a condition conducive,to storm development throughout

the remainder of the operational,period.

'-
