High humidity, surface troughing.
occasional upper air troughing and intense surface heating were the
pri~e causes of storm development during the week.

AUGUst 18th-- '-OPERAT lONAL DAY #42: All planes wOl-e scrambled al"ound
2:15 p.m., MDT, as numerous small storms began forming rapidly in
eastern Hamilton/western Koal-ny counties. StOl-ms eventually
organized into a N-S line near the Kearny/Hamilton County line,
north of Kendall; seeding to increase rainfall began at 2:35 p.m.
All seeding was concentrated there as general intensification
ooo"r1"ed requJ.rlng hail suppression seeding. The cloud top plane and a cloud base plane wet'e
abl", to set airbol'ne a second time from Dodge City and repla, ced the
remaining seed1118 aircraft. Only brief seeding was then required
over NY!
