<br />Two addition planes from the south target area also were dispatched at the same time. Two planes began seeding <br />for hail suppression along the state line, west of Good land, at 4:20 p.m. Two more planes also began seeding for <br />hail suppression at 4:46 and 4:56 in northwest Wallace County. As the line developed to the south, two more <br />planes, dispatched from the southern target area, along with the cloud-top Cheyenne began seeding in western <br />Wallace County at 5:33. As line continued to develop to the south and into Greeley County all control of the <br />operation was release to Lakin Radar at 7:05. <br /> <br />At 9:43 p.m. two cloud-base planes returned to the control of Colby, Radar to investigate storms in Cheyenne <br />County, Colorado. The first plane began seeding for hail suppression, northwest of the Town of Arapaho, CO at <br />10:00. As the line advanced to the east. The second plane began seeding, north of Tribune at 10:25. Seeding <br />continued through Wallace County until II :02 p.m.. At this time all seeding was terminated and planes recall to <br />Colby, as the line of storms move outside the target area. <br /> <br />Monday. August 21. 2000 (North Operations day # 27) <br />At 8:56 p.m., five cloud-base planes were dispatched to an approaching line of storms and the associated outflow <br />boundary from Colorado. The outflow boundary quickly outdistanced the storms behind it by 10 to 20 miles. <br />Planes patrolled the boundary for any secondary development to occur. Two of the planes were recalled at to base <br />9:49. Two more were recalled at 10:00. One plane was instructed to proceed out to Cheyenne County, Colorado <br />to investigate a new line of storms approaching from the west. As a precaution, seeding for hail suppression began <br />with one plane at 10:09, southwest of Arapaho. Seeding continued along eastern Cheyenne County and into <br />western Wallace County until 10:34 p.m.. At this time seeding was halted over the town of Sharon Springs and <br />the plane release to the control of Lakin Radar. <br /> <br />Friday. August 25. 2000 (North Operations day # 28) <br />One cloud-base plane was dispatched from Leoti at 2:32 p.m. to an isolated radar echo in the northeast comer of <br />Cheyenne County, CO. Seeding for rain enhancement began at 3:15 p.m. in northeast Cheyenne County, CO. <br />However, cloud bases and inflows quickly dissipated and seeding was terminated at 3:24. A second cloud-base <br />plane was launched to investigate numerous, isolated cells over Sherman and Thomas Counties at 3: 15 p.m. After <br />patrolling various storm cells the pilot was recalled to Colby at 5 :00 without beginning seeding operations. <br /> <br />Thursday. Auiust 31st. (South Operations day # 45) <br />NOTE: Operations on 31 August were conducted from Lakin Radar, Lakin, KS <br />Four cloud-base planes were dispatched at 5:46 p.m. to rapidly developing, severe storm in south central Cheyenne <br />County, Colorado. The first two planes arrived on the storm and began seeding for hail suppression, southwest of <br />Arapaho, CO at 6:22 and 6:23. Two more planes arrived to assist in operations and began seeding, south of <br />Arapaho at 6:31 and 6:34. Due to mechanical difficulties, one plane was force to return to base at 6:42. Three <br />more cloud-base aircraft were launched and arrived at the storm to began seeding from inside Kansas, west of the <br />Town ofWeskan, in Wallace County at 7:10, 7:12, and 7:19 p.m.. And the cloud-top Cheyenne began cloud <br />penetrations at 7:45, west of Sharon Springs. Seeding continued as the storm moved to the northeast across <br />Wallace County and into northwest Logan County. The storm dissipated as quickly as it had developed, over <br />northwest Logan County. All seeding was terminated at 8:59 and planes recalled to base. <br /> <br />Page 5 of 15 <br />
