The fourth aircraft, leased from Aero Systems, Inc. of Erie, Colorado,

was used to dispense dry ice in the supercooled parts of clouds. It was

equipped with two dispensers that automatically released dry ice pellets at

the rate of one-pound per minute of flight. This aircraft and its crew were

available to operate anytime on a 24-hour basis.

The cloud base seeding aircraft were located at Lakin, Ulysses, and

Scott City. The cloud-top seeder was stationed at D~ge City.

All seeding was performed under positive aircraft control by the radar

meteorologist with the pilots providing important inputs in the identifi-

cation of targets of opportunity and other specific cloud information.

-15-
