Statistics for Watersheds Within Overall Target Area

Parts of six major river drainages within the overall target area were identified
and further assessed. Maintaining the same array of control sites used in the full target
area analyses, regression statistics were developed for the six sub-areas, for snowpack
and precipitation. These dozen analyses are shown below. For each river drainage,
the regression statistics and list of target sites are shown, for both snowpack and
precipitation analyses. Individual target sites, when located on ridges separating river
drainages, are used for each drainage. A map showing the target area and the six river
drainages is shown in Figure 8. The numbering system (1-6) used below is derived
from this figure,

Although not necessarily specified as primary evaluation tools for quantitative
assessment of the overall seeding project effectiveness, certain of these sub-area
results can be useful in identifying possible geographic variations in the effects of
seeding. Over time, their indications could be used to predict seasonal differences in
runoff. Further. the predicted runoff differences could be used toward benefiUcost
estimates for the seeding operations, such as was reported in Stauffer and Williams
(2000).

1.
