,

. ;

,.,

During February, one seeding event took place on the 3rd. This event was
followed by a series of un-seedable storms which resulted in the issuance
of an extended avalanche warning from February 14 through the 24th.
Sunny weather followed for the rest of February as the program ended on
February 28, 1986.

In summary, the weather pattern this winter was basically characterized
by extended periods of heavy preCipitation followed by prolonged periods
of no precipitation. This type of weather pattern along with the additional
concerns for avalanche conditions greatly limited the ability of the
program to provide seeding operations for many of the weather events
having precipitation augmentation potential.

During the period November 5, 1985 - February 28, 1986, WESTERN
WEATHER CONSULTANTS, INC. seeded eleven selected weather events
covering portions of seventeen days. The operations for the Central
Colorado Mountains program amounted to 431.7 hours of generator seeding
time which dispensed 5,169.1 grams of silver iodide.

The following table lists the individual seeding events and gives the
number of generators operated, the ski areas seeded, the total number of
seeding hours, the seeding rate, and the total output of silver iodide in
grams. This table is followed by a presentation of precipitation events to
seeding events with accompanying changes in monthly snow course
measurements. This presentation is provided for informational purposes
only; no quantitative statistical evaluation of the seeding effects from
this program will be attempted.
