I

June 26th already has been described in Section IV, Operational
Summary - 1989, as the single worst hail day in the history of the
WKWM Program. Unfortunately, after over 19 flight hours and 17 hours
of seeding storms that day, we did not have the capability to continue
seeding longer and an unseeded solid line of cumulonimbus clouds moved
through the lower two tiers of counties in Southwest Kansas, centered
on Haskell County! This single day produced 46% of Haskell County's
yearly total and 38% of the WKWM target area yearly total.
