~

.

;

Only one area, south of the Grand l-Iesa, exhib/ted any

dryness. This zone stretches from the Utah/Colorado

border to just'west of the Continental Divide, and en-

compasses the Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests.

Areas of heavier precipitation were found to be centered

along the Continental Divide, over the San Juan National

Forest, and over the Grand Mesa National Forest.

The Grand Mesa project itself again fared well. For
1976, the area of maximum precipitation was found to be
centered over the eastern half of the Mesa, extending
northward and slightly to the west of the project. Based
upon the analysis, it is apparent that the C!2l project
area received hetter than 120% of the normal precipita-
tion.

Outside of a small area to the northeast of the Mesa, no
other region showed the degree of wetness that occurred
over the project. The small pocket to the northeast may,
in fact, he a reflection of downwind seeding effects.

~~,.
"

Page 6
