A Description of the Objectives of the Proposed Project. <br /> <br /> <br />The nature of the proposed program ia to augment natural precipitation <br /> <br />within the project area to provide improved anowpacks and additional <br /> <br />water aupplied for atorage and beneficial use. The operational <br /> <br />technology and procedurea utilized in thia program were derived <br /> <br /> <br />from previous snowpack augmentation programs operated in Colorado, <br /> <br />apecifically: The Climax and Wolf Creek research programs. the <br /> <br />Colorado River Basin Pilot Project and the last 25 winters' programs <br /> <br /> <br />operated by WESTERN WEATHER CONSULTANTS,LLC in the Contral Colorado <br /> <br /> <br />and San Juan Mountains. <br /> <br /> <br />The objectives of the project are to increase snowpscks in,the <br /> <br /> <br />drainage basins of all major mountain massifs in the project area <br /> <br />which should result in increased run-off into the storsgs syatams in <br /> <br />these basins and reeult in an additional water supply for agricultural, <br /> <br />industrial or domestic use along with an additional snowpackfor <br /> <br /> <br />winter recreational use. <br /> <br />2. A Written Description of the Target Area and the Area Reasonably <br />Expected to be Affected by the Project. See attached Map. <br /> <br />The target area consists of the Western San Juan Mountains above 9,000 ft. MSL from the Dolores <br />River Drainage to the west to the Florida River Drainage to the east. This includes the Lower Animas <br />River Drainage around the Durango Mountain Resort Ski Area and the Hermosa.and East Fork River <br />Drainages. . ,;,.i\- -:Li ',., ~( ~ . <br /> <br />1,:.,;" < <br /> <br />TIle areas reasonably expected to be affected by the project are those areas above9,OOOft<MSL inside <br />the target area and in the uppermost ridges immediately sdjacent and downwind of the target area (See <br />attached map), <br /> <br />3.
