I

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I

Every year there 1s some person or group that deserves a
special mention of appreciation for their effort in behalf of this
program. This year there are two people worthy of this award.

I

First, Mildred Jaeger 1s retiring from the Kansas/Oklahoma
Hail Loss Service. She has provided crop hail damage instances to
us over the years. Having recently turned 60, Mrs. Jaeger says.. .
"it's about time, don't you think?" She also allowed us to recover
many back years of crop damage information a couple of years ago,
When all the data is eventually in a form we can use, we think
there will be considerable information uncovered and correlated.

I

Second 1s Kyle Spencer, a local area pilot raised in Kendall.
Several years ago he made his way to this program, became qualified
in cloud base seeding, then persisted in this activity to
eventually became our cloud-tap seeding pilot based in Dodge City.
Normally, most pilots only spend a year or two in weather
modification because seasons usually only last 4 - 6 months then
it's off to the next program---somewhere, if there is one, or do
something else. Fortunately, Kyle has been able to fly with our
Program aircraft when it has been leased to other groups in the
off-season and gain considerable experience in other kinds of
weather modification as well as in much different flying conditions
from Kansas. This past summer Kyle had more than his fair share of
maintenance problems, but somehow he seemed to be able to pull it
together when mast needed. His perservera1+ce and dedication to
keeping things going continues to make him a valued member of the
operations.

i
,

I
I

42
