<br />I <br /> <br />In terms of departures from "normal" I Figure 8 looks much the <br />same as Figure '1. The greatest departure fram "averagelt appears in <br />SW Kearny County where it was over 70 % above. While much of the <br />target area is normal, or above, below normal rainfall extends from <br />Greeley and Wallace counties to the east and southeast into NW <br />Finney County as well as over portions of Gr~y and Ford counties. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />In calculating departures from "normal" we are 11m! ted in <br />finding out exactly what 1s "normal", In making these calculations <br />we use the official average for the one reporting point in the <br />county---which 1s not really accurate at all. It may be close, but <br />we do not really know, absolutely. what is normal for either the <br />rainfall observer locations or the official reporting stations. In <br />fact, that number probably doesn't exist in reality! However, <br />using an average determined for one point does give us some method <br />of showing general tendencies of precipitation and is most likely <br />better than nothing at all. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />33 <br />
